If you live in the U.S. and are over the age of 2, the odds are 50/50 that you consume sugary drinks on a daily basis. Unfortunately, many people believe that swapping soft drinks for fruit drinks is a healthy option. This is not always the case. As seen in this Discovery Infographic called “Soda’s Evil Twin,” there are some fruit drinks that an actually be worse for you than soda. Some contain less than 10% real juice and consist of little more than water and high fructose syrup.
Whether it comes from a fruit drink or soft drink, too much high fructose syrup can lead to weight gain, obesity, high blood pressure, fatty liver disease and Type 2 diabetes.
