Following warnings about the presence of the chemical BPA in plastic water bottles, many people switched over to metal water bottles. However, if you’re not carefully in your choice of metal bottle you could end up being exposed to even higher levels of BPA. The Mother Nature Network recently reported on a study published in the online Chemosphere that found that some metal water bottles leach more BPA than similar plastic bottles. In this case, the BPA is not coming from the metal of the bottle but from the bottle’s lining, which may be made from an epoxy resin that contains BPA.
Protect yourself and your family by checking inside the rim of metal bottles and avoid those that have a golden-orange lining (according to the report, white linings are safe). Read more on the Mother Nature Network website.
